FavIcons are those little Icons that you see in the browser bar when you go to certain sites. This is a very popular way to help "Brand" your site. This way when someone adds your website as a favorite your "Branded Icon" will show up in their favorites or wherever they save your sites URL. Every website needs a banner to help distinguish itself from other sites with the same type of content. The banner for a website says a lot about how much time and effort has been put into that site. A cheap looking banner just shows that you don't care how you look to the public. Generally the cleaner and nicer the banner for your site and your advertisments the better your sales will be. The use of an animated banner will allow you to convey a larger message over the same amount of space and may allow more bang for your advertising dollar.
